Glossary

Technical terms used in pneumatic conveying and wear-part engineering. Written and reviewed by The Anvil Made Team.

Ceramic-Backed Elbow
A pipe elbow with a ceramic compound bonded to the outside radius — the wear face. Used in pneumatic conveying to handle abrasive bulk material at 10–20× the wear life of uncoated steel.
Dilute-Phase Conveying
Pneumatic conveying mode where bulk material is suspended in high-velocity air (typically 4,000–7,000 fpm). The majority of wear-part decisions are made in this regime.
Pneumatic Conveying
The transport of dry bulk material through pipe using air pressure or vacuum. Standard method for moving powder, pellets, granules, and abrasive bulk solids in industrial plants.
