Technical terms used in pneumatic conveying and wear-part engineering. Written and reviewed by The Anvil Made Team.
- Ceramic-Backed Elbow
- A pipe elbow with a ceramic compound bonded to the outside radius — the wear face. Used in pneumatic conveying to handle abrasive bulk material at 10–20× the wear life of uncoated steel.
- Dilute-Phase Conveying
- Pneumatic conveying mode where bulk material is suspended in high-velocity air (typically 4,000–7,000 fpm). The majority of wear-part decisions are made in this regime.
- Pneumatic Conveying
- The transport of dry bulk material through pipe using air pressure or vacuum. Standard method for moving powder, pellets, granules, and abrasive bulk solids in industrial plants.
