AM-REPLACE-BACK · Progressive ProductsReplaceable-Back Elbow
For low-abrasion, high-changeout applications. Replace just the worn back panel — not the whole elbow — for a fraction of the price and time. 10GA standard; thicker metal and AR plate available.
Overview
The Replaceable-Back elbow is the smart choice when your application has low-to-moderate abrasion but high replacement frequency. Instead of changing the entire elbow on every cycle, you change just the bolt-on back panel — half the labor (1/2 hour × 2 maintenance personnel vs 1 hour × 3 personnel for a full-elbow swap), fraction of the cost.
Fabricated using a tube pipe or elbow inner core, eliminating the need for transitions that cause turbulence. Typical construction is 10GA material; thicker metal and AR (abrasion-resistant) plate are available for higher-wear service.
When to choose this
Lower-abrasion applications where the bottleneck is replacement frequency, not material hardness. The Replaceable-Back lowers installation time and replacement cost, reducing loss of material and system maintenance time, improving system efficiency and raising production.
Per Progressive’s cost worksheet: typical non-elbow cost over a 5-replacement cycle drops from $5,515 (bare) to $3,245 (replaceable-back) — a 41% labor + downtime savings.
Typical applications
Abrasive dust, industrial vacuum systems, plastics.
Not recommended for food applications due to the open voids that can collect material.
