AM-MORTAR-BACK · Progressive ProductsMortar-Filled Flat-Back Elbow (Cement-Back)
The right balance of abrasion resistance and price. Pipe or tube elbow with a cavity back filled with cured concrete. Lower cost than ceramic, better life than bare metal. Custom-mix concrete and refractory backing options available.
Overview
Also known as the Cement-Back elbow, the Mortar-Filled Flat-Back is the sweet-spot product when you need significantly more wear life than a bare elbow but the application doesn’t justify Ceram-Back® or cast ceramic pricing.
Construction: pipe or tube elbow with a fabricated cavity at the outside radius filled with cured concrete. The concrete absorbs impact and abrasion while the metal exterior maintains structural integrity. Different exterior thicknesses are available. Standard or custom-mix concrete can be specified. For high-heat applications, refractory backing is available instead of cement.
