Overview
The Hollow-Back elbow is a clever piece of engineering for higher-abrasion applications with self-packing material. The hollow cavity at the outside of the bend captures abrasive product on first pass, then incoming material rides against the trapped material instead of the elbow wall. Wear effectively stops — the elbow protects itself.
Fabricated using a tube pipe or elbow as the inner core, eliminating transition turbulence. Typical construction is 10GA material; thicker metal and AR (abrasion-resistant) plate are available for severe service.
Typical applications
Sand, powdered coal, powder, granules, or other dry self-packing materials.
Not recommended for food applications due to the open voids that can collect material.
