AM-AIRLOCK · Progressive ProductsRotary Airlocks
Heavy-duty rotary airlocks (a.k.a. rotary valves) for pneumatic conveying inlets, dust collectors, and pressure barriers. SD bare or with Ceram-Back® rotor pockets for abrasive service. Standard 6″–14″; custom sizes on order.
Overview
A rotary airlock (sometimes called a rotary valve) is the standard way to feed bulk material into a pressurized pneumatic conveying line, or to discharge material from a dust collector while maintaining vacuum. The rotor’s pockets meter material at a controlled rate while the housing-to-rotor seal maintains the pressure differential.
Progressive’s SD (standard duty) airlock is the workhorse — adequate for most non-abrasive applications. For abrasive material (cement, fly ash, frac sand) the Ceram-Back® rotor option dramatically extends pocket and tip life.
Configuration
- Throat sizes: 6″, 8″, 10″, 12″, 14″ (custom larger on order)
- Rotor styles: open-end, closed-end, scalloped, beveled
- Optional Ceram-Back® rotor pockets for abrasive material
- Drive: direct-coupled or chain-driven; TEFC, washdown, or explosion-proof
- Body: cast iron, fabricated carbon steel, or stainless
- Pressure differential: ≤15 psi standard; higher available
Service & rebuild
When wear progresses (typical 12–36 months in abrasive service), the rotor and tips are field-replaceable. Ask us about rebuild kits to avoid full unit replacement.
